More disruption for Cheltenham motorists...... The next phase of A40 improvements kick off today. Resurfacing will be along the Lansdown Road from the junction with Hatherley Road to Montpellier Walk. If you're getting the bus ...you'll be ok. BUT....the road will be closed to cars for five weeks to raise the kurb levels.

Gloucestershire gets a head start with composting.....
The country's biggest compost plant's being opened in Gloucestershire. It gets going in Sharpness this week. The machinery works by using an old method to recycle organic waste........mainly from Stroud and The Cotswolds. That then gets used as a fertiliser.

Seagulls get the heave ho!
We need to put a stop to disruption from seagulls. That's the message from Cheltenham Borough Council. They're trying to reduce the amount of seagulls nesting in the town. A four day campaigns underway to sterilise the bird eggs, and prevent them from hatching. According to the council .....not having babies makes the Seagulls less disruptive.

Extra housing in Tewkesbury
Ten months on.....are the Tewkesbury floods a distant memory? According to Tewkesbury MP Laurence Robertson, they're still very much top of the list. He's made a direct appeal to Gordon Brown to stop 14 thousand new homes being built in and around the village. One priority is to alter the Regional Spatial Strategy to avoid building on flood plains altogether.

Cheltenham school goes 'eco' crazy....
A Cheltenham infant school's been awarded the Green Flag prize for being environmentally friendly..... Four to seven year olds at Charlton Kings have been noted for their daily composting and paper saving schemes. They're celebrating with a visit from Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood.

Gloucester man takes a saw to his car!
A Gloucester man's saved himself two hundred and eighty quid by getting his saw out....... Forty year old Ian Taylor of Tarrington Road cut his car in two after finding it clamped outside his house. Private parking company NCP say they targetted the vehicle because it was backing onto a public footpath by two inches.

Otis Ferry keeps quiet.....
Otis Ferry son of rock star Bryan Ferry appeared in Gloucester Crown court today. The 25 year old was charged with attacking a hunt monitor and robbing another. It happened in Cheltenham in November when a woman tried to film him at a countryside hunt. In court he entered no pleas....and only spoke to say his name. Ferry's trial has now been fixed for mid September.

Where's the flood cash gone?
We're still waiting for flood money almost a year on........ ALL because the European Commission don't have our bank account details. According to South West MEP Graham Watson there's confusion over WHERE to pay the money in. Added to that we're getting eighty million less than promised. Flood hit communities were due to get a hundred and ten million pounds but since last week that's been reduced to thirty point six.
